Is Credit Collection Services Commercial A Scam?

I just got a collection notice from Credit Collection Services Commerical for an alleged unpaid American Family Insurance Bill. The funny thing is that I changed insurance carriers in July 08 and they are claiming that the charge is for September 08. I even got a check back from American Family because I overpaid. So is this very official letter from Credit Collection Services Commercial for real or is it a scam to get money out of you. The letter has a crappy warningnotice.com lettering around the body of the letter.

The people on the phone there weren't very helpful either.

WELL DAVE THEY CERTAINLY DIDN'T OPEN THE PHONE BOOK CLOSE THEIR EYES AND JUST HAPPEN TO PICK YOUR NAME OUT OF THE PHONE BOOK!- YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAD BEEN A CUSTOMER FROM THE BUSINESS THEY REPRESENT, SO MAYBE THE REFUND CHECK WAS ISSUED IN ERROR OR IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE INSURANCE COMPANIES PROCESS EARNED PREMIUM AMOUNTS (WHICH WAS PROBABLY WHAT YOU GOT A REFUND FOR IF YOU PAID IN ADVANCE)SEPARATELY FROM COSTS YOU MAY HAVE BEEN CHARGED BY CANCELING PRIOR TO THE TERM OF THE POLICIES EXPIRATION DATE (NORMALLY 6 MTHS OR 1 YR) OR MAYBE IT WAS A NSF CK?- CALL THEM DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOUR UPSET IF IT ENDS UP ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT

Warningnotice.com is a scam.
I received a similar call for a debt related to my phone number and address but for a different name. Odd as there is no reason for my number and address to be associated with anyone else. Previous owners at this address would have had different phone numbers.

I called the number and gave the person the phone number the debt was associated with. They said, is this ? I said "no" and that was why I was calling. Immediately, he said "We'll take your number off our calling list". I asked "so I won't be receiving any calls any more?" He said "No".

Odd. Why would a debt collecting agency give up that quickly unless they knew it was bogus? Why would a debt collecting agency waist their time with $30-$50 debts when they would have to buy the debt from the original lender? I think it is a scam. They hope people will just pay the $40 or so to get rid of them.

The lender they told me as being the original holder of the debt was Geico. Lots of people have Geico. They hope that the dupe thinks they might have an unpaid bill with them. I've never used Geico so their phishing expedition failed with me

I received a letter from CCS regarding 74.97 supposedly owed to Movie Gallery which is now out of business. They are not calling me because I disconnected my home phone and they don't have my cell. But these movies were rented in 3/10. I returned them but probably owe the late fees. They are charging me replacement fees as well. How do you fight a company that was so horrible and is out of business? I am not paying. They are scamming me.

I just got a letter from this company telling me I owe over $200 to Hollywood Video. We ALWAYS paid our over-due videos when we got new ones. I'm sure it's a scam. Just not sure how to find out for sure. Guess I'll contact the Attorney General's office...

It is a real debt collecting agency, just a terribly unethical one. Nationwide insurance uses them, ive I've had to deal with them after canceling my insurance. So no its not a scam but yes the complaint is garbage

I'm quite convinced this group is a clever low ($) level scam. Ive been getting calls from them for months. 1st they claimed a Jan 2009 debt for a walkin Med bill for $30 which was my exact copay amount. Now they have added a bill from Quest med labs in Nov 2008 for $28.32 amount. Collection companies are not anxious for such old nickle and dime debts. I have no recollection nor any record of any activity on these dates in my health insurers DBs.
The bigger problem seems that they have the appearance of legitimacy, the bills that is, and where did they get that info. It looks like it could be health insurers DBs info combining a name here and a bill there. Are we being sold out by DP personnel, big business data keepers? I believe not enough is done about this stuff including ID theft. An id victim is as hurt as if he/she were hit by a car or shot?
I wish I knew how to get these CCS bandits of my back?

First I want to say I have'nt been contacted by this collector and I do not owe any money. I was bored and reading thru these posts I have to say the following:

WARNINGNOTICE.COM IS SOME FOREIGN PERSON. A FOREIGN WEBSITE.
CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF---
GOTO---->> WHOISIP.COM and do a search on warningnotice.com

You will see it is some foreign scam !!

I just received a CCS notification as well. This is from Farmers Insurance Group, and as the first person who posted, I had also received a rebate check from the insurance company when I cancelled my service. How is this company obtaining information regarding our insurance companies? I think this is a scam as well. I will have to investigate further!

you people are foolish. you can avoid your bills all you want but they dont disappear. did you ever think to check with the original creditor to confirm the debt? I don't think big companies like geico would hire scam artists. Get over yourselves people... check the better business bureau... ccs has a better rating than walmart. I didn't believe it either until I tried to buy a house and had something on my credit report. And it was a mistake. CCS removed it after confirming with nationwide it was a mistake. you think I'm kidding... check the BBB and your credit report...

These guys have been harrassing me for several months now. About 5 months ago I switched carriers and there was a gap of about 2 weeks, therefore the old carrier decides that I should pay them for the full term of the policy. I had the same thing happen several years ago - I did not pay them then and I will not pay them now. Had there been a claim applied to any of my policies, I might be inclined to do so, but with there having been NO claims filed, I will NOT pay them another red cent. I encourage all of you out there that get those calls and letters to not pay them anything...they are NOT hurting for money, my God, look at how greedy insurance companies are...dogs!
